Maritime Minis

about maritime minis

Maritime Minis aims to provide the highest standard of care for all children, to enable them to develop and grow socially, physically, emotionally, and most importantly to be happy and have fun!

A little about us

Welcome to Maritime Minis.

Minis is a family run nursery group in the heart of the community putting the children we care for at the heart of all we do.

We opened our first nursery in the Greenwich Millennium Village in 2012, with the vision to be a nursery that is a true part of the community, serving the families in and around the village.

Established by Jo and Ben Hutchings our focus has always been to offer exceptional childcare in an environment that is stimulating, engaging and fun, enabling children to reach their full potential.

By investing in a skilled team who have a passion for childcare, we are able to support each child, so that when leaving us for school they are confident and inquisitive with a love for learning that will last a lifetime.

Maritime Minis is registered with Ofsted, which is the governing body that sets the standards for care and learning in all children’s day care settings. Details of our latest Ofsted report can be found here.

Our ethos

At Minis we strive to be the leader in providing outstanding and inspirational childcare, ensuring that children are embraced as individuals, with different Care and Educational needs. We will always be true to our EPIC values and will continually develop our team and the nursery to maintain the highest professional standards.

Experiences are the foundation on which children build the rest of their lives. It is vitally important to get it right for all children, so they can develop to their fullest potential – academically, socially, emotionally and physically, growing in confidence and being able to participate in the wider community.

We will help all children to develop into active, resilient, confident and independent learners who will move on through Maritime Minis and finally onto Primary school with the knowledge, skills, characteristics, attitudes and love of learning necessary to continue that learning throughout their lives.

We will do this by:
Learning through play
Developing warm relationships and initiating high quality interactions.
Working in close partnership with parents.
Providing an enabling environment.
Planning and providing personalised learning.

Our Mission

Our mission is to nurture and encourage each child to learn and progress within a supportive environment, with dedicated practitioners that work together to provide a joyful, stimulating safe world for our children to explore and be themselves.

Our aim is to provide a range of fun and challenging indoor and outdoor activities to assist the children in their development in a warm and welcoming environment. We always strive to excel and adhere to best practice. While children are taught by all educators in a room, each child has a key carer who is the main person responsible for their personal development, well-being, and progress.

We work in partnerships with our parents and have an open door policy. We hold two parents evenings each year and offer regular updates using our parent software and app “Connect”.

Upon joining minis, we carry out a baseline assessment ensuring that your child is offered the appropriate learning opportunities to be able to extend further development.

We also carry out two year old checks, as well as continually observing our children and evolving our practice, to ensure that we are always child led within our approach.
